At the beginning of the 20th century postcards were the mass communication media of the day – with up to 7 collections a day in London, you could send a postcard inviting a friend to dinner, for him to receive it in good time to make it in the evening! Picture postcards covered any subject imaginable, including photos of London streets – almost as soon as they were built. They provide an amazing record of what your area looked like over 100 years ago.
